The Basics

The da Vinci X offers a more budget-friendly option for hospitals compared to the da Vinci Xi. Positioned between the earlier da Vinci Si and the da Vinci Xi, the da Vinci X retains most of the advanced capabilities of the Xi while incorporating some features not found in the Si model. Introduced to the market by Intuitive Surgical, the da Vinci X maintains the precision and dexterity provided by its thinner and more capable arms, similar to those of the Xi.

Tools, such as staplers, firefly, and vessel sealers all come equipped with the da Vinci X. Support and training is also available, which is included with the more expensive models.

In comparison to its predecessor, the da Vinci Si, the X model utilizes a cart-based system like the Si, as opposed to the overhead arrangement of the Xi. By doing so, the da Vinci X sacrifices some of the higher-end model's versatility, such as the ability to perform procedures in multiple areas of the body simultaneously.

Nevertheless, the da Vinci X is optimized for procedures in the lower abdomen, making it ideal for prostratectomy, hysterectomy, and hernia repair surgeries. Despite its more affordable price point, the da Vinci X incorporates several features from the advanced da Vinci Xi that were not present in the Si model.

These features include voice and laser guidance systems, a lightweight endoscope, and a sophisticated control console with 3D optics, enabling surgeons to have a clear view of the operating area as they operate the robot.
